Discovering FIRE

I dream of the days where I can just dip my feet in clear water on the beach.

Let me start off with a little introduction about myself. I am a 20 year old female college student who doesn't even have a full-time job. So who am I to be thinking about retiring early right? However, I hope to be financially independent by the age of 45-50.
This is where I'll be documenting my adventure from entering the professional workforce to leaving it.

A few weeks ago I was introduced to the concept of financial independence and retiring early (FIRE) when I came across the FIRE subreddit. There I discovered the community of motivated individuals all working towards becoming financially independent. I've been causally lurking (checking multiple times a day) the subreddit ever since.

Setting myself up:

  • 20 year old female
    • 0 children
  • Full-time student
    • Major: Accounting
  • Part-time server
  • Midwest region
  • Live with parents
Current Monthly Expenses:

  • $200 Food
  • $108 Transportation
  • $21 Phone
  • $171 Miscellaneous
  • $500 Total
Current Finances:

  • $13,000 Cash
  • $1,750 Betterment
  • No debt
Looking forward to the start of this very long but rewarding adventure!
